Established in 1989, in pursuance of The Bank of Punjab Act 1989 and was given the status of scheduled bank in 1994.The Bank of Punjab is working as a scheduled commercial bank with its network of 272 branches at all major business centers in the country. The Bank provides all types of banking services such as Deposit in Local Currency, Client Deposit in Foreign Currency, Remittances, Advances to Business, Trade, Industry and Agriculture
Problems Faced
In year 2001, the bank had formed its IT-Division, by virtue of which the bank which was operating manually opted to develop its own Cobol based core banking application. In this regards, a proper infra-structure was the banks main requirement for development as well as roll out.
Implemented Solution
The bank decided to use Acu-cobol as its cobol flavor for development, under the SCO UNIX operating system. For which Synergy Computers Pvt Limited, was engaged and we provided not only licenses for Acu-Cobol, but as well as licenses for SCO Unix, infrastructure regarding Servers, PC’s, Laser printers, Dot-matrix printers, and networking infra-structures for the head-office and all branches all over the country. Implementation of UNIX file system, and backup tools using DAT drives was provided, along with implementation of Samba and SCO Vision for branches all over the country.
